The Lacquer Legion: After Dark - Too-Dark Halloween Nail Art

I was running very short on time for nail art this weekend (frantically working on my Halloween costume, of course!), but I couldn't let this month's Lacquer Legion day pass me by.

The theme this month was "After Dark," so I decided to go with a fairly typical October-y, Halloween-y scene: a moon, a tree silhouette, a spooky cat, etc. Unfortunately, I think I went a bit too literal on the "after dark" aspect—my base color is so dark, you can hardly see the art on top! I didn't have the time to take a second shot at it, so I decided to just overexpose my photos a little and go with what I had. Hopefully you get the idea, at least!

The base here is piCture pOlish Cosmos, and the moon is OPI My Boyfriend Scales Walls with some Julep Casper on top for some sparkle & glow. Everything else is black acrylic paint with some ILNP Funshine Smoothie for the gold accents.

In addition to my background contrast fail, my husband said that my moon/tree situation looks like brains, not a tree, and... he's probably right, sigh. But brains are still Halloween-y, yes? Maybe? I don't know, I give up on this one, honestly. :)

Be sure to check out the #LLAfterDark tag on your social media platform(s) of choice to check out other folks' interpretation of this month's Lacquer Legion theme—I'm sure there are going to be some amazing manis out there today!

Thanks for looking!
