Argyle in Green

I generally don't do much to celebrate St. Patrick's Day, but I do love green, so I couldn't resist adding a little St. Paddy's spirit to my nail art this weekend by using two of my favorite green polishes.

I really liked the gray argyle nail I did for my recent Muppets Most Wanted nail art, so I decided to expand upon that and do a whole argyle manicure. I started with a base of piCture pOlish Camo, and then used little square sections of scotch tape to block off the diamond pattern before applying Zoya Hunter and peeling the tape off. Once that was dry, I used a small nail art brush and some white acrylic paint to add the "stitches."

I still love the argyle look, but wow, did I definitely learn some things about the steadiness (or lack thereof) of my non-dominant hand while doing this manicure! I'm reasonably happy with the white stitches here, but the ones on my other hand aren't nearly as nice. I suppose that means I need to do detail work more often to get some practice in, huh?

Like all their polishes, Camo went on beautifully and was very easy to work with. I'm slowly building my piCture pOlish collection, but I still don't have nearly enough of them!

Oh, and one more thing I wanted to mention: I'm on twitter now! The obvious twitter handle for me to use was already taken (and I've seen some people incorrectly attributing it to me, which is part of the reason why I decided to finally make one for this blog), so I went with @amateurmani. Please feel free to follow me there if twitter is your social media outlet of choice! I'll be posting links to my posts there going forward, and probably also sharing the occasional text-only thoughts or links that aren't quite right for Instagram.

Thanks for looking!
